Our teachers bring
unconditional love and emotional security, a sense of routine, and
provide an opportunity for children to be creative and resourceful.
We promote curiosity and exploration in an environment of learning
and fun. All activities are age and stage appropriate
and promote the individual child’s physical, intellectual,
emotional, and social well-being and
growth.
The Center
provides:
• Opportunities for individual self-expression
• Recognition that each child is an individual
• Respect for personal privacy
• Respect for each child’s cultural, ethnic, and family
background, as well as the child’s primary language
The teachers
promote social development by:
• Helping the children develop ways of getting along with each
other
• Emphasizing and fostering mutual respect between adults and
children
• Demonstrating respect for all individuals and appreciation of
cultural and ethnic diversity
• Encouraging the children to work independently and help with
daily routines
• Offering a lot of comfort and love
Our Educational Programs develop skills and concepts that prepare
children for kindergarten. We have a well-balanced curriculum of
activities which introduce early math, language arts, fine and gross
motor skills, and social skills. In addition, our programs allow
children to explore reading, writing, and comprehension skills. The
children learn through playing and working on a variety of projects.
Our innovative program of forty “weekly themes” such as Heritage
Week, Shopping Week, Ocean/Sea Life Week, and Safety Week gives the
children a well-rounded knowledge of the world around them.
INFANTS
Our primary focus in taking care of our infants is love and
nurturing. Trained caregivers who love babies will encourage your
infant’s emotional and physical development by holding them, talking
to them, singing, smiling, reading and playing. The colorful, soft,
and safe environment of the nursery fosters the infants sense of
creativity and curiosity. Safety and hygiene are important concerns
therefore only appropriate toys, materials, and equipment is used
and sanitized daily. We accommodate the rapid changes and demands of
the babies first year and build confidence into their transition to
the toddler age. Every day you will receive a log of your child’s
eating, sleeping, diapering, and learning activities. Teachers also
perform an assessment twice a year using development checklists.
TODDLERS
The toddler is full of curiosity and unbounded energy. Our toddler
program encourages these qualities and develops the child’s
language, gross motor and small motor skills, Self-discipline,
cooperation, creativity, curiosity, and independence are fostered
through indoor and outdoor play activities, exploration of
manipulative toys, and books. Our teachers assist children in
channeling their abilities. Art and music are an integral part of
the program.
THREE YEAR
OLDS
The three year olds’ program is designed to help the child develop
concepts and language skills necessary for future learning through
listening to stories, retelling events, and dramatic play with
puppets, music, and movement. A variety of play and art materials
give the children a chance to explore. Building with blocks,
painting, collage, murals, and constructing with different materials
develop the child’s small motor and problem solving skills, and
enhance their sense of creativity and self-expression. Daily writing
exercises introduce the three’s to creating letters.
FOUR YEAR OLDS
The four year old child is ready to explore concepts in reading,
math readiness, science and social studies as well as the continued
growth of language and physical development skills. Our creative
program gives the child a thematic hands-on approach to learning new
skills and developing new awareness and abilities. Beginning phonics
instruction is introduced when the child is ready for this skill.
The four year olds curiosity, independence, and self-confidence is
fostered through play activities. Manipulative toys, art, music, and
field trips enhance the child’s understanding and enjoyment of all
that they are learning.
FIVE YEAR OLDS
The five year old child is ready to develop reading, math, and
handwriting skills that will prepare them for the more formal
learning environment of elementary school. Our program presents
science, social studies, music, language, and physical development
activities in a weekly thematic format. The reading readiness
program focuses on phonic skills, followed by listening
comprehension for the child who demonstrates readiness for this
skill. Manipulatives are used to learn math concepts. Beginning
handwriting skills are taught through a specially designed
handwriting program. Creativity, curiosity, and confidence are
developed through play activities. Art experiences, manipulative
materials, dramatic play, books and games, enhance the child’s
concept development. Field trips add to their learning experience.
